Below are our recommended builds for 2k18. These are a mix of the current meta/our opinion. We will continue to add to these builds as the meta changes. Have a build that you think should be on this list? Message us on Twitter and let us know.
We recommend max wingspan for every build.
This is a pass first build that can still shoot at an effective rate to run the point guard position in a 4 or 5 out ProAm offense. This build is quick with the ball and capable of beating his man off the dribble. Favor layups over dunks as you will get blocked less but do not expect to hit contested layups consistently.
Fab is the guy to watch for this build. He is the point guard for SlightWork. You can follow him on twitter but he does not stream. Slightwork often matches up against comp and it is easy to find streams where he is on the opposing team.
This is a very common build for running the point guard position in ProAm for teams running a 5 out. Do not expect to finish layups through any kind of contest. This build can effectively take 3s in non catch and shoot situations. You will want to equip a very fast jump shot.
Every ProAm team needs a 3 and D guy. Yes, you’re going to sit in a corner on offense. But your job is to stop the other teams best player from dropping 40 on you. You want to be tall to contest shots from further away. For ProAm you want your Lockdown to be a SG to drop the badges and attributes of opposing point guards, shooting guards and small forwards.
Power Forward can be a difficult role to fill but we believe this is the most effective build to do so. Expect to shoot near 50% from 3 in the corner once you have your shot down. This build can rebound and finish very well and will very rarely miss from mid range.

This build is designed for a 5 out offense that places the center on the wing. You should expect to hit 3s at a very high level while still being able to hold your own on the defensive end and on the glass. Don’t be afraid to shoot slightly contested 3s with this build as you will likely be 6-7 inches taller than the player at the top of the 2-3 zone.
A strong build for running the point guard in the park. This build gets shooting badges while maintaining a high speed with ball. Favor layups over dunks and dont expect to finish consistently inside. Reverse layups are your friend. This build is great for 3v3 and 2v2.
This is the ultimate “dribble gawd” build.
It is great for iso and running the pick and roll. If it gets a little bit of space it will knock down every midrange. It can even finish well and has a respectable 3 ball. It is probably the most balanced guard build in 2k. This build is great for 2v2 but works well in 3v3 also.

This build can do a little bit of everything. Expect to shoot around 50% from 3. At 6’8 you will almost always be taller than your matchup which will help on the defensive end and will help you with contested layups. This build is great for 3v3 but works well in 2v2 also.
This build relies purely on the fact that 3s are worth more than 2s. You will give up some points in the paint but you should be able to force enough stops and hit enough 3s that this build will outshine any inside big build in the park. Hover at limitless range on offense to pull the big man out of the paint and allow your guards to attack the rim. Catch and Shoot with this build is lethal. This build is great for 3v3 but works well in 2v2 also.
This build is great for dominating in the paint. It has great finishing ability and its size will take care of the rebounding/paint protection. This build is great for 2v2 as a pnr man but works well in 3v3 also.
